My life unceremoniously revolves around music. This fact isn’t a shock by any means. I start every day with music, I end every day with music. I’m always looking, always pursuing the “next big thing” or really, the next song that’s going to take the breath out of my lungs while instantaneously knocking me flat on my ass and making me weep like a child.
Yeah.. I guess you could say I’m a lyric person.
I try, and usually fail miserably, every year to make the perfect summer mix. One that encompasses everything that summer is – the highs and lows, the stifling heat and perfect nights, etc. So I attempt this, and I just can’t do it. The playlist(s) I put together are always lacking in some way so I abandon ship, and succumb to the fact that I just can’t narrow Summer down quite like other people can.
And here’s where Heather from Fuel/Friends comes sashaying into my life with her wondrous being of light and splendor… and ability to make mixes about anything about as well as Kobe-friggin-Bryant plays basketball. Seriously, her (and her blog) are like the Michael Jordan of music blogs. She's one that I check every day in hopes of discovering yet another artist that I can fall madly in love with. She's like Cupid in that way.
Anyway, this week she posted her annual Summer Plunge 2010 with Fuel/Friends and once again, I am COMPLETELY SPEECHLESS. I still listen to her Late Nights and Longboards: Fuel/Friends Summer 2009 mix (and um, not to mention her Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose mix is pretty much my favorite mix OF ALL TIME) but this. This glorious mix this year, is hands down perfection in every way, shape and form. I haven't stopped listening to it since I got my greedy little hands on it - meaning: IT'S THAT FREAKING GOOD AND YOU SHOULD GO DOWNLOAD IT RIGHT THIS INSTANT.
Seriously, I'm picturing myself playing this at any (or um, EVERY) BBQ I have/attend this summer. I'm picturing this playing to, at and home from the beach. I'm picturing this playing when it's sweltering hot and I'm sitting outside drinking an ice-cold Arnold Palmer with a cool breeze blowing across my tanned, bare legs while throwing my head back in laughter at the absurdity of it all.
Clearly, I've had a lot of time to think about these things while listening to this mix of perfection. MIX OF GODDAMN PERFECTION I SAY.
GO DOWNLOAD IT NOW.
